- Riding Lesson Information
Whether you are a timid beginner or a seasoned Pro Kierson Farm Riding Academy has a place for you. We offer riding lessons 7 days/ week. You can choose from group, private or semi private lesson. Kierson is home to 30 wonderful school horses and full time riding instructors who love to share their love of horses with their students.
Intro to Kierson is required for first time students. Focus on Horsemanship through 30 minutes of riding time & 30 minutes of horse care instruction and hands on learning.
Group lessons are offered at various times throughout the week. Lessons are 1 hour in length, with 45 minutes on horse. Group lessons are offered for all level riders. Groups can range from 3 to 10 riders. Group lessons are booked in one hour time slots starting on the hour Intro to Kierson Group Intro to Kierson is required for first time students. Focus on Horsemanship through 30 minutes of riding time & 30 minutes of horse care instruction and hands on learning.
- Intro to Kierson Group
Intro to Kierson Groups will help new riders feel comfortable both one the ground and on top of their horse. Basic safety procedures, mounting and dismounting as well as a progression of basic riding skills will be taught over the coarse of your first 6 week semester at Kierson. Riders enrolled in Intro to Kierson Group will also have a chance to learn how to properly groom and tack their horse for each lesson. Intro to Kierson Groups have a higher teacher to student ratio then our Skill Building Class as well as personalized attention for our newest riders.
- Skill Building Group
Skill Building Group is the next step for riders after completing one semester of Intro to Kierson. Riding lessons are custom built to meet each individuals needs. Riders will advance through various stages of learning with the use of a variety of teaching techniques. Riders enrolled in our Skill Building Classes will learn to ride a variety of horses at the Walk, Trot and Canter.
Riders will move at their own pace during Skill Building Classes. Each week riders will be given the opportunity to ride a different Kierson school horse, giving riders the chance to learn from a variety of equine partners. Each skill building class is teamed by a head instructor and one assistant instructor.
- Show Rider Group
Show Rider Groups reserved our Show Team.
Members of the Kierson Show Rider Team have graduated from the Academy Team and now compete on a national circuit.
- Academy Group
Academy Groups are reserved for riders that are members of the Kierson Academy Team. Academy Groups will continue to build on general riding skills learned throughout Sill Building Classes and will add elements of showmanship as riders prepare for Academy Shows. Private lessons are offered for the serious rider at set times throughout the week. Private lessons consist of 30 minutes of on horse time. Private lessons are offered to riders who wish to further advance their horsemanship and push themselves to the next level of learning, Private lesson are booked every half hour on the half hour.
- Semi Private Lessons
Semi Private lessons consist of 30 minutes of on horse time in groups of 2 or 3 riders. These are recommended for riders who are looking for more specialized attention, or as a step up for Tiny Tots before they are ready for a group lesson.
- Tiny Tot Lessons
Tiny Tot lessons are offered for children ages 3-6 who are in the beginning stages of riding only. Riders who have progressed past this stage are required to enter our private, semi private, or group lessons. Lessons will consist of 20 minutes of on horse time and 10 minutes of grooming and off horse care, for a total of 30 minutes. Tiny Tot lesson are a great way to get your young rider confident in the saddle.
- Mommy and Me Lessons
Take time to discover the world of horses with your little one! Mom will receive a 15 minute private riding lesson. your Tiny Tot ( ages 3-6) will receive a 15 minute private riding and both of you together will have a chance to learn all about horses through hands on activities!
Lunge Lessons are 15 minutes in length. They are hands free lessons that focus on core strength and balance. Riders are taught how to use specific muscle groups to control their own body as well as how to communicate with their horse free of rein aids
